Seems fitting that we are fortunate enough to release this record at the same time as when our nationwide pandemic is largely considered "over". The second in a series of two heartbreakingly beautiful records from Akron, OH's Talons'
Talons' is the solo project of one Mike Tolan (of The Six Parts Seven) and a longtime friend to our collective consciousness.
Mike has been a prominent Akron OH songwriter for about as long as I have been doing music -- Maybe longer. His songs are heart-achingly confessional and beautiful and his influence can be heard across our bands but throughout contemporaries in both the ambient and low-fi singer songwriter space. Think Wild Pink meets Joan Of Arc meets Balmorehea.
With this, we bring you Mike's 2022 record Pandemic Divide -- a beautifully recorded LP, unlike work Mike has done previously. This time, focused on lush electronics and ambient space, Pandemic Divide comes with a (somewhat) higher production value and Mike takes the listener on a journey which seemingly feels more optimistic than previous works -- although I'm sure Mike would be the first to challenge that notion. A gorgeous LP about navigating the circumstances surrounding 3 years of living in a global pandemic. A captivating look into a strange time and one we felt worth sharing for home audio consumption.
Put headphones on for this. Bliss out. It's very rewarding.
The inserts were handmade by Mike himself and the vinyl comes in a single colorway of metallic copper to match the jacket.
